Urethra or uterus – histopathological similarity, rare case presentation of female urethral leiomyoma

Introduction: Most common benign tumours of smooth muscle is leiomyoma which is frequently seen in uterus. Extrauterine leiomyoma are rare especially in the deep soft tissue like female urethra. Thus, presence of a urethra mass poses a significant diagnostic challenge as its differential diagnosis includes an extensive list of both benign and malignant pathologies of gynaecological or urologic origin. We describe an unusual case of urethral leiomyoma that was mistaken as bladder mass.

An interesting presentation of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism -kallmann syndrome

Kallmann syndrome is a rare sporadic and inherited chromosomal disorder, resulting in olfactogenital dysplasia. Embryonic olfactory epithelium gives rise to cells that differentiate into GnRH secreting neurons. These GnRH neurons which originate in the olfactory placode (i.e. the early developing nose); then migrate along the fetal olfactory neurons that also originate in the nose; and eventually enter the brain ultimately finding their way to the hypothalamus. In KS, there is Failed neuronal migration from olfactory placode to the hypothalamus.

Transurethral excision of eroded trans-vesical mesh after sling surgery: Case report

Anemia and heart failure: state-of-the-art review

Anemia is a frequent co-morbidity in patients with heart failure, associated with an increased risk of hospitalization, morbidities, and mortality, making its correction an important factor in improving the quality of life and clinical data, in patients who have both of these pathologies. This article reviews the multifactorial etiology of anemia in heart failure patients, including iron deficiency, chronic inflammation, abnormal levels of erythropoietin, and the abnormal activation of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone (SRAA) system, as the main cause of this pathology.
