    ABSTRACT:

Below we present the main results of the numerical analysis performed in ETABs, to assess the seismic response of an existing building, with brick masonry, type 77/5, which is part of many similar projects, built in the years 1975-1990, in Albania. While these 5-story buildings cover a significant percentage of residential buildings, the fundamental question is: "Are these buildings safe under seismic action, while so many families are accommodated on them? “This question stems from the following limitation: The 77/5 plan derives from regular forms, based on the recommendations of Eurocode 8.6 [4.2.3.2], p. 48. and KTP.N.2-89 (Technical Design Conditions), published by the Academy of Sciences. This study tends to answer this basic question.

    ABSTRACT:

Extramuscular soft tissue myxomas are extremely rare with only 4 documented cases in english literature till date. Myxomas are benign connective tissue tumours of unclear histogenesis and etiology. Virchow coined the term Myxoma in 1871 while Stout defined the criteria for diagnosis in 1948. Cardiac Myxomas are the most commonly reported and researched, and surgery is the accepted treatment modality. Extra cardiac myxomas are less common and predominantly occur in the head neck region. We review the literature about soft tissue myxomas in the light of a case of an Extramuscular myxoma in a 1 yr old kid. We propose inclusion of myxomas in differential diagnosis of neck masses and recommend surgery in the form of complete excision as the primary modality for treatment in these tumors though the clinical and radiological picture is deceptive. Paucity of available literature and rarity of these tumors demands vigilant evaluation to frame guidelines for their appropriate management.

    ABSTRACT:

Optimum plant population per unit area is considered as one of the agronomic management practice to boost up the yield of commercial crop which aid in provision of adequate sunlight, nutrient, water and space for proliferation (Biradar patil et al., 1991). Seed crop is not exempting from this rule and in addition seed crop require still more adequate spacing for rouging and to improve the size of seed (Savithri and Srimathi, 2002). Hence, in seed production the geometry should be adjusted in such a way that the quality of seed is yielded at higher order at the optimum plant spacing

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Apnea of prematurity (AOP) is one of the most common diagnoses in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), likely secondary to a “physiologic” immaturity of respiratory control that may be exacerbated by neonatal disease. It may be associated with bradycardia, cyanosis, brain damage, neuro developmental complications, and even death. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of tactile and olfactory stimulation on neonatal behavior of premature infants with apnea. Methods: Randomized control trial design utilizing a sample of 30neonates (16 girls and 14 boys) born at 30 to 36 weeks gestational age with apnea of prematurity with mean± standard deviation 33.40 ±1.50 weeks for tactile group and 34.00 ±1.41 weeks for olfactory group. Heart rate and oxygen saturation were measured at birth and at the fifth day postnatal, Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale was used to assess neonatal reflexes. Results: Data analysis revealed that there were statistically significant difference when comparing pre and post values (P ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: Tactile and olfactory stimulations are two effective methods for improving neonatal behavior with tactile is more advantageous. These results provide an objective information in formulation of effective strategies for selection of appropriate neonatal apnea treatments.

    ABSTRACT:

The present study attempts to highlight the socio-economic determinants of health outcomes in India. The study investigates the relationship between infant and child mortality and socio- economic factors of health outcomes. The important socio economic factors are household income, female education, standard of living, social class etc. It is well acknowledged that improvement in income, level of education, literacy rate, mother education etc have positive impact not only on general health status of the people, but also on children’s overall growth and development. Further, the study analyze the socio-economic determinants of health outcomes and their impact on Infant Mortality Rate and Under Five Mortality Rate.In this study, the indicators that obtained after carrying out PCA are index for Socio Economic status (ISES), index for Demographic status (IDS) and index for Environmental Status (IES), index for Maternal Health (IMH) Index for Malnutrition (IMAL) and Index of Child Health Immunization (ICHI).In order to investigate the relationship between variables Regression Analysis has been used. In Linear regression model, the dependent variables, the health outcomes are assumed to a linear function of independent variables i.e. the prepared indices. Demographic Regression value are (-.765) and U5MR value are this show the negative impact of IDS on U5MR.

This paper examines the ethnic political impact of Indo-Myanmar boundary of Mizoram in the North East India. Mizoram shares borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Indian states of Tripura, Assam and Manipur. Brawny historical, cultural, political, traditions and ethnic connections between Chin and Mizo might suggest a strong claim to belonging. Some of the routes to India from China across Yunan and Myanmar were laid through even before the Han Dynasty of China. The Emperor Wu, who ruled China during 140-86 B.C sent and envoy Chang Chien who learned about India and seen Chinese silk in India while he was on a mission to find out and allied tribe living west.Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura in India; and the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. Zo is one of several similar identity movements in the Northeast India, which have variously been described as “cosmopolitan identities”, “micro-nationalisms” and “adjacent identities” (S. ABSTRACT:

    ABSTRACT:

COVID-19 pandemic has become a global health crisis, but its effects are not confined to health sector. Education is one of the most sensitive sectors that is severely affected by this pandemic. Worldwide school closures have resulted in fears of downfalls in literacy rates in many countries. Sri Lanka is one of the South Asian country that has got sustained detrimental effects of COVID-19 pandemic both medically as well as socially. Sri Lankan general education system which is traditional classroom-based education had to move to online education in order to keep in pace with educational momentum. This rapid shift has created many challenges; the main concerns are problems related to access a suitable devices and readiness and preparedness of the system to absorb online education. This critical review intends to explore more on to these challenges with statistical background where it re-emphasizes that the said challenges are predominant in the Sri Lankan education system and they have to be addressed immediately if the online education to be an effective alternative for traditional class-room teaching. This article further highlights the dearth of research in these concerns and essentiality of conducting impact surveys in order to take effective remedial policy decisions.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Kinesiotaping (KT) is a type of taping treatment method involving the application of elastic therapeutic tapes to the skin. The benefits of taping were said to be due to sensorimotor and proprioceptive feedback mechanisms. Taping offers immediate sensorimotor input, and patients often report symptom relief, increased relaxation, or increased joint stability. The elasticity of KT allows for movement by conforming to the body. The most common cardiovascular disorder is coronary artery disease (CAD), which is correlated to a decline in quality of life. For the treatment of CAD, revascularization procedures such as Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. The patient was not resumed with protocol. After a month, he developed dyspnea while walking, chest discomfort, and neck pain. An examination revealed moderate kyphotic posture, trigger points in the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles, and spasm of neck muscles on palpation, as well as a decrease of neck range of motion. Case presentation: we present a male patient 55 years old diabetic and hypertensive with coronaries obstruction, his BMI was 22 kg/m2. Methods: we conducted a case study of targeted patient kinesiotape effect on primary outcome Cobb angle of kyphosis post coronary artery bypass surgery and investigated with sagittal radiographic evaluation whether the magnitude of change differed from baseline and follow up radiographs for Cobb angle measurements. The patient was delivered physical therapy protocol daily and for one week post operation and re-evaluated after 1 month. The protocol included: breathing exercises, incentive spirometry, expansion exercises, neck and trunk mobility exercises and walking combined with kinesiotape application on back muscle. Results: The Cobb’s angle base line measurement was 42o degree and follow up was 40o degree. There was significant difference between Cobb angle measurements after intervention. Conclusion: Kinesiotape has an important role in prevention of kyphosis posture development as a secondary complication after coronary artery bypass surgery.

Background: At the beginning of the pandemic in Spain, concern was raised about the need to hospitalize the elderly living in nursing homes affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A multidisciplinary hospital team was formed in Valladolid (Spain) to medicalize these facilities. Methods: 835 elderly residents (70% women and 30% men) of six nursing homes were analyzed. We performed a universal screening by real time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and a retrospective analysis of the outcomes (incidence, severity, hospital admissions and mortality) at 14, 21 and 28 days after diagnosis. Treatments administered to patients were also analyzed. Results: Of the 578residents with positive RT-PCR,177 (31%)showed moderate or severe symptoms,71 (12%) required hospitalizationand103 (18%) died in the 28 days after diagnosis. In the group with negative RT-PCR, the mortality rate was 16%. Patients received more corticosteroids in nursing homes and more lopinavir-ritonavir in the Hospital. Among critically ill patients, no difference in the mortality rate was found between those hospitalized (80%) and those who remained in the nursing home (81%). Conclusions: The screening showed that 72% of the elderly had SARS-CoV-2 infection. The mortality rate was similar in the initially positive and negative RT-PCR groups, suggesting that many residents subsequently developed the infection. In our experience, when adequate health care is provided, with sufficiently trained health workers, the life expectancy of elderly people with COVID-19 is not affected by staying in nursing homes, even in severe cases.

    ABSTRACT:

This paper investigated the relationship between discipline as a management tool and academic staff job performance in Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH). The study adopted a survey-descriptive case study design because the events had taken place in their natural course of happening. One research question and one null hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. Eight hundred and twenty two (822) academic staff of CRUTECH constituted the population out of which stratified proportionate random samples of fifty (50) academic staff were identified for administration of Discipline as Management Tool and Effective Job Performance Rating Scale (DMTEJPRS) was administered for data gathering. The data were subsequently analyzed with basic statistics and the Spearman’s Rank Order coefficient of correlation to establish the relationship between the variables. Results showed R of 0.49 and coefficient of determination of 24%. Both X and Y variables were regressed and a regression coefficient of 0.71 was obtained. It was concluded that discipline as a management and academic staff job performance had a moderate but significant relationship. Three recommendations were made one of which was that the Management of CRUTECH should utilize discipline as a management tool as argued in this paper and play down the “carrot with stick” philosophy of management generally wielded in organizations.

Background: It is known that no treatment has yet been developed for upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) caused by many different pathogenic mechanisms and the immune system must be strong in order to overcome the symptoms. Aim: To research the antimicrobial effects against clinically significant bacterial and fungal organisms and antioxidant activities of some syrups sold with and without prescriptions and commonly used for URTI in children. Design and setting: This study analyzed the syrups recommended by pediatricians for upper respiratory infections. Method: The antimicrobial efficacy of 10 syrups, 5 of which are chemical-based and 5 of which are herbal-based, against microbial species was tested with the disc diffusion method and obtained results were statistically analyzed. Additionally, the antioxidant activities of the syrup samples were evaluated based on different methodand total phenolic contents. Results: Found herbal-based syrups had mean activity (11 mm) that was higher compared to chemical-based syrups (9.42 mm) according to inhibition diameters. While the total phenolic content of a syrup with chemical origin was higher than that of all other syrups, the antioxidant activity of another syrup containing many herbal extracts at the same time was considerably higher as a result of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) assay. Conclusion: The strongest antimicrobial activity was identified in syrups with herbal-based active material of Pelargonium sidoides root extract and thyme fluid extract. The antioxidant activities of herbal syrups containing extracts of different parts of herbal species such as thyme, licorice root, echinacea, ginger, African geranium, barberry, and acerola were found to be more effective other syrups.

    ABSTRACT:

    ABSTRACT:

Indo-Myanmar border trade are governed by the kind of human groups living in border areas. By this, we mean the ethnic composition on both sides of the boundary. The economy of the border areas is always of supplementary and complimentary nature and this aspect of economy should always be kept in mind while promoting the border trade. The main purpose of this paper is to examine the socio-economic condition of Indo-Myanmar boundary of Mizoram state. India is an emerging power with fast economic growth, geographic size, natural resources, and dynamic population. It has adopted a new foreign policy and economic orientation towards its South East Asian bordering neighbours including Myanmar. India and Myanmar had trade relations between themselves for a number of centuries. The coming of the British simply accelerated the economic importance of India and Burma to each other. The trade relations which had been established continued even after independence. Of course, their general economic policies, as well as the fact that they were both economically under-developed affected their economic relationship. Unlike India, Myanmar, while emphasizing the need for economic development, did not appear to have any interest in accepting foreign aid. This was at least true up to the middle of 1949. Perhaps, till then, she expected too much from her own internal resources, like nationalization scheme, and state control of foreign trade. The evolution of the Mizo and other sub-tribes depicts their migratory nature in the beginning of their habitation in Mizoram. These Kuki-Chin groups of Tibeto-Burman branch of Indo-Mongoloid race came to the present Mizoram in different waves and occupied the area where they could find suitable land for agriculture, besides consideration of their security. They occupied the land which was either virgin or captured the land by driving out earlier settlers in the North or the West. But their migratory nature did not change and as such, they went on changing the places of habitation. There was no permanent settlement till the advent of the British administration at the end of the last century.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: In tandem with current technological advancements, the quest for innovative treatment methods capable of enhancing musculoskeletal functioning is rising. Because of its wide mobility and the sensitive capacities of its surrounding tissues, which allow grasping and sensation, the human hand is undoubtedly the most significant and complicated structure of the upper extremity. Its vital duties, and because handgrip strength plays such an important part in daily activities, this study looked at the effects of kinesiotaping on different handgrip strengths in computer users. Aim of the study: The present study aimed to investigate the effect of kinesiotaping on power hand grip and precision hand grip in computer users. Subjects and Methods: Thirty computer users voluntarily participated in this study, their ages were ranged from 20 to 45 years, they assigned in one single group, power hand grip was measured using hand held dynamometer, and precision hand grip was measured using pinch gauge for all participants for both right and left hands. Then kinesiotaping was applied on the wrist joint of both hands, and all measures was taken again. Results: It was observed that a significant increase in strength values occurred in the right hand and the left hand compared to the initial values, in both the power and precision hand grip strength, In the comparison of handgrip strength between the dominant and non-dominant hands, it was observed that the dominant hand (right hand) demonstrated greater handgrip strength at all the assessment times. Conclusion: kinesiotaping has a positive effect on the improvement of both power grip strength and precision grip strength of both right and left hands.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Core stability training has become a popular fitness practice that is already being used in rehabilitation and sports medicine programs. Core stability training is the basic and fundamental component of many comprehensive functional rehabilitation programs. In the late 1990s, core stability training was created based upon findings from large number of studies which demonstrated the significance of trunk control in neuromuscular reorganization in managing back pain. Core stability training programs are designed to help an individual to gain functional strength, neuromuscular control and the endurance of core muscles. Although most previous studies about core stability training were conducted to evaluate pain and function and only a few studies are considering pelvic parameters changes. Aim of the study: The purpose of the study was to investigate lumbopelvic sagittal alignment in asymptomatic subjects after the segmental lumbopelvic training exercises. Subjects and Methods: 13 asymptomatic subjects (8 males and 5 females) aged 20-30 years and body mass index ranged from 18.5-25 kg/cm2 were recruited for this experimental study. The pelvic parameters examined in this study were lumber lordosis angle (LL) and pelvic tilt angle (PT), pelvic incidence angle (PI) and sacral slope (SS) measured by X-ray imaging radiography from sagittal. T-test was used to detect differences in the mean values of pelvic parameters before and after exercise training. Results: T-test Statistical analysis was used to detect differences in in mean value of lumber lordosis angle, pelvic tilt angle, pelvic incidence angle and sacral slope angle before and after segmental lumpopelvic training exercise. There were no significant differences between lumber lordosis angle (t = -1.12, p = 0.13), pelvic tilt angle (t= -1.16, p = 0.12), pelvic incidence angle (t = -0.33, p = 0.37) and sacral slope angle (t = 0.22, p = 0.41) before and after segmental lumpopelvic training exercise. Conclusion: there was no significance difference in the mean value of pelvic parameters before and after segmental lumbopelvic exercise training.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Cervical radiculopathy is a common cause of axial neck and arm pain, and is characterized by symptoms that radiate to the upper extremities in a dermatomal distribution. Nerve root impingement can be secondary to an acute disc herniation, or also from chronic spondylosis. annual incidence, approximately 83 cases per 100,000 persons (1). Purpose: Aim of current study was to investigate the effect of dexamethasone Phonophoresis Therapy on pain , range of motion and physical performance with cervical Radiculopathy patients. Participants and methods: The study was performed on thirty Patients (16 males & 14 females) aged35 to 55 years suffering chronic cervical radiculopathy. They were divided into two equal groups; Group (A) received phonophoresis of dexamethasone ampoule (in each session with half of 8mg ampule and 35 g ultrasound gel) , Ultrasound device (Chattanooga-Ultrasound Combo Unit ) was applied over the paravertebral neck region ( 1 MHz frequency and 1.5 Wt/cm2 power and duration 10 min)in addition to conventional physical therapy program include corrective exercise programme in the form of two strengthening(deep cervical flexors and shoulder retractors) , two stretching (cervical extensors and pectoral muscles) exercises and hot packs Were performed for 10 min to the cervical area for local superficial heat .This conventional treatment was to be repeated three times per week for four weeks . Duration of treatment was 3sessions (45 min per session)/week. One session day after day for 4 weeks. Group (B) received a placebo dexamethasone phonophoresis (The ultrasound probe was held over the paravertebral neck region using topical gel containing (half of 8mg ampule of dexamethasone and 35 g ultrasound gel in each session) which was the same as in group A. Ultrasound device seemed to be working for 10-min period with light-off position in addition to conventional physical therapy program which was the same as in group A. Three evaluation procedures applied before and after the treatment program through visual analogue scale (VAS), The cervical range of motion (CROM) device and Neck disability index. Results: There was a significant increase in cervical ROM of the group A compared with that of the group B post treatment (p < 0.01), and a significant decrease in VAS and NDI of the group A compared with that of the group B (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The results suggested that dexamethasone phonophoresis is effective in treating cervical radiculopathy that causes a greater improvement in their quality of life.
