Changing climatic condition and types of floriculture: case of purba medinipur district, West Bengal

Present day PurbaMedinipur district is one of the flower cultivated zone of West Bengal. In this time the study area flower cultivation have taken a place. Presently floriculture has become a highly specialized.Growth of floriculture and its role in socio economic status of floriculturists of the district PurbaMedinipur are very important. Mainly Panskura-I, Kolaghattwo blocks are most important flower growing region of the district PurbaMedinipur. During the past review we can see this region have an important role to play for economy and gets verities of flower and production.

Preliminary phytochemical and invitro- antioxidant and analysis of moringa oleifera lam. leaf extract

In the present study, the leaf powder of Moringa oleifera Lam. was subjected to preliminary phytochemical and invitro antioxidant analysis. The freshly prepared plant leaf extract was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening, which revealed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, glycosides, phenolic compounds, terpenoids and steroids. Reducing power, superoxide anion radical, nitric oxide radical and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays were carried out to evaluate the antioxidant potential of the methanolic leaf extract of this plant.

Removal of chromium from effluent by biosorption using spirulina platensis

Industrial effluents is a threat to the biological species in the aquatic environment. Removal of these heavy metals would make the aquatic world free of pollution and will be a boon. This paper presents the studies carried out on the applicability of microalga namely Spirulina sp. for heavy metal removal from the electroplating industrial effluent. The effects of pH, adsorbent dose, temperature and contact time on the adsorption of chromium by the dry biomass were studied.

Addition of pearl millet flour to watermelon seeds porridge to improve a traditional food in darfur

A study was conducted on watermelon (Citrullusvulgaris) seeds porridge supplemented with the flour of pearl millet (Pennisetumglaucum) variety Dembi. The main objectives of the study were to determine the chemical composition and to improve the quality of processed porridge as well as to improve the nutritional value. The Data were collected on proximate composition, tannins, protein digestibility, minerals contents and sensory evaluation.

Preparation of doum (hyphaenethebaica) drink

In this study, doum fruit pulp (slices) was used to prepare four types of beverages in addition to the traditional doum drink. Distilled water, gum Arabic, CMC and filtration treatments were separately used to prevent precipitate formation (pulp sedimentation). All products were examined for physicochemical, microbial and organoleptic qualities. The traditional doum drink showed a pH value of 5.1, 153 mg/100ml acidity, 7.3 oBrix total soluble solids and 12.83 cps viscosity.

Efficacy of four acetogenin containing members of annonaceae against colletotrichum gloeosporiodes (penz) penz & sach

The acetogenin containing members of the Annonaceae family Annona squamosa L., Annona reticulata L., and Annona muricata L are known insecticidals. The antifungal potency of these three well studied plants along with a fourth acetogenin containing member, Uvaria narum L. were put to test against the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides that causes post harvest anthracnose disease in many tropical fruits.

Proximate composition, chemical and microbiological evaluation of peanut butter in supermarkets in Khartoum state

The aim of this work was contribute to the food safety of Sudanese consumers by studying the physicochemical properties and microbiological evaluation of peanut butter samples .The samples were collected from different area in Khartoum state. The results revealed that some samples were nutritive which had protein values ranged between (27.47-24.31%), oil content values ranged between (50.38-46.28%), energy values ranged between (610.69-600.03kcl/100g) and appear to have positive effects on human health and so could meet the dietary needs of the population.

Acceptability evaluation of iron rich product developed from lepidium sativum

Iron Deficiency Anemia is a major public health problem which affects all age groups. Women in reproductive years are more susceptible to iron deficiency and consequent anemia. A lot of reasons are a part of the etiological factors of anemia and diet being one of the major cause. A poor, nutrient deficient diet makes anemia part of a vicious cycle which fails to end. The present study is aimed at development of laddoos, which are rich in iron by incorporating garden cress seeds at various levels.

Cyclical dissimilarities in zooplankton structure of some selected lentic habitats in and around hospet city, Karnataka (India)

This study focuses on seasonal dissimilarities of zooplankton structure of selected lentic habitats in and around the Hospet city, Karnataka state. Three lentic habitats were identified and sampling was done in the identified four location of the selected water tanks and assessed for its water quality status based on its physico-chemical parameters (temperature, pH, total dissolved solids, hardness, calcium, phosphate, nitrate and dissolved oxygen), during February 2015 to January 2016.
