    ABSTRACT:

Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) or gonarthrosis is a chronic disease with a high prevalence in the adult population, which causes a significant physical limitation, which directly impacts the quality of life of patients. Surgical treatment in patients diagnosed with OA has shown good results in pain management, as well as in improving the functional capacity and mobility of the patient. The objective of this study was to compare two post-stabilized joint replacement designs and thus evaluate which of the two offers better post-surgical results and reduces the probability of complications in patients at the Naval Medical Center (CEMENAV) with gonarthrosis postoperatively for joint replacement surgery, with a two-year follow-up. Materials and methods: This is a prospective, observational, analytical and cross-sectional comparative clinical trial; which consisted of the capture of 50 patients postoperatively for knee joint replacement surgery during the period 2014-2017 at CEMENAV. These patients were administered two measuring instruments (Womac and Koos questionnaires) to evaluate motor functional capacity before and after surgery, in order to compare both prostheses. Also, an evolution of the interface zones and other radiological data was performed by means of the Knee Society Total Knee Arthroplasty radiological evaluation system to determine prosthetic loosening in both joint replacement designs. Results: This study showed that there is a relationship between the type of joint replacement system and the postoperative results in terms of symptoms, pain, functionality and quality of life of the patients, which was reinforced by the better clinical and radiological results observed in group 1 compared to those in group 2. Conclusion: Patients with OA treated with the system in Group 1 showed better clinical and radiological results compared to those treated with the system in Group 2.

    ABSTRACT:

University faculty are “frontliners” too and vulnerable to feel stressed and overwhelmed this COVID19 pandemic. This study investigated on the impact of COVID19 pandemic on work-related stress of private university faculty. The study confirmed both negative and positive impact of COVID19 on work-related stress among faculty. On the adverse side, novel corona virus crisis resulted to extra burden on role overload, feeling of powerlessness and poor peer relations stress level of the faculty. Amidst Corona virus crisis, the faculty gain little positive but significant impact on their wellbeing because they experienced state of self-significance, realized own’s potential, rewarded, and remunerated and felt responsible for co-employees. This makes the overall level of work-related stress among faculty members insignificantly different pre and during COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact of corona virus crisis on role overload, powerlessness, and poor peer relation may negatively influence health and work productivity if the condition persists. Hence, reducing workload, employing empowerment and collegial activities may be points of consideration for the university administrators to help to ease up the burden brought about by this pandemic.

Three Schiff bases P1-3 derived from benzoyl hydrazine was synthesized and characterized. Study revealed that P1 with –OH as substitute had good selectivity to Al3+, other two compounds P2-3 did not show any selective property. These results indicated that different active groups in the probe system had great effect on the selectivity and sensitivity. P1 was characterized as an Al3+-selective fluorescent probe in detail.

    ABSTRACT:

Changes of microbial community in the petroleum-contaminated area may have a critical effect on the process of bioremediation. In the study, high-throughput sequencing was used to study the stucture of microbial community in the petroleum-contaminated area of Xiuying port, Haikou. In results, there showed differences in microbial communities between seawater and sediment at the same site. Base on the metagemone analysis, both bacteria and archaea were frequentuly found in seawater, whereas bacteria was the dominant microorganism in sediment. Based on category analysis, the seawater samples mainly include Chloroflexi(18%), Proteobacteria(18%), Planctomycetes(12%), The sediment samples were mainly include Bacteroidetes (29%), Proteobacteria (29%), Firmicutes (19%) and Actinobacteria (14%). In conlusion, the study is of great significance to the study of microbial remediation of petroleum contaminated marine waters.

Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is one of the major causes of severe vision impairment and blindness. The prevalence of retinal artery or vein occlusion in the general population increases with age. ADPKD patients are at risk for developing central retinal vascular occlusions at a younger age. Here we report a case of ADPKD with central retinal vein occlusion.

    ABSTRACT:

Introduction: A pseudoarthrosis is established after a minimum of nine months after the trauma without progressive visible signs of consolidation for three months1. The treatment of nonunion of fractures is expensive, with an estimated cost per case between £ 7,000 and £ 79,000 ($ 10,000 to $ 114,000) .2 There is currently no surgical technique that is considered standard for the treatment of this pathology Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the mixed stabilization treatment with a central medullary nail + external fixator in the patients of the Naval Medical Center based on the radiological consolidation time. Method: Study where the effectiveness of mixed surgical treatment for pseudoarthoris and / or nonunion was evaluated in 21 patients who met inclusion criteria for the surgical procedure from 2016 to 2019 at the Naval Medical Center of Mexico City. Under informed consent. Results: This study included 21 patients who were cared for by the Traumatology and Orthopedics service of the Naval Medical Center, who met the inclusion criteria to be part of this study. The gender distribution in the analyzed patients was predominantly male with n = 17 (81%) and female with n = 4 (19%). The area of injury of the affected limb was n = 12 (57%) for the femur bone and n = 9 (43%) for the tibia bone. Without showing a significant relationship between the affected bone and the healing time. The hypertrophic type was the most common with a frequency of 14 cases (67%), 33% corresponded to the hypotrophic type (n = 7). Conclusions: The mixed surgical fixation and stabilization treatment used in this hospital for the management of pseudoarthrosis was adequate since we obtained an effectiveness of 90.47%, thus providing us with adequate safety in its use.

    ABSTRACT:

A Cu2+-sensitive fluorescent probe P based on naphthalimide derivative was designed and characterized. Study showed that P had good selectivity to Cu2+ among the tested metal ions. The fluorescent intensity was proportional to the concentration of Cu2+ in the range of 1.5×10-6-7.0×10-6 M with a detection limit of 5.0×10-7 M Cu2+. The possible binding mode of P with Cu2+ was also proposed.

    ABSTRACT:

Introduction: Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common causative agent of atypical pneumonia, the main characteristic of which is the discrepancy between clinical data and radiological findings. Diagnostic confirmation is achieved by detecting the organism through culture or PCR, or by detecting IgG and IgM antibodies. Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is a clinical syndrome that generally manifests with hemoptysis, anemia, and the presence of infiltrates on chest x-ray. From an anatomical point of view, DAH is defined as the presence of blood in the distal alveolar spaces without any endobronchial abnormality being identified. Clinical case: Patient 5 years old with a diagnosis of hemolytic anemia since 3 years on treatment with Mycophenolate and Prednisone, with a diagnosis of pneumonia associated with health care, empirical management is started based on voriconazole, trimethoprim / sulfamethoxazole, macrolide, carbapenem and glycopeptide because the patient is immunocompromised and opportunistic microorganisms are suspected. HRCT with ground glass pattern and viral panel by PCR (FilmArray) positive for Rhinovirus and Mycoplasmapneumoniae are reported, treatment is adjusted with gamma globulin (two doses) and prednisone 20 mg / day; completes 12 days with macrolide; associated with the multidisciplinary management already mentioned, the patient improves. Conclusion: Infections caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae present variable clinical pictures, at the pulmonary level, there are case reports with diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, whose management should be multidisciplinary, the use of gamma globulin and steroid associated with antibiotic treatment with macrolides has been described, with a satisfactory evolution of the patients.

    ABSTRACT:

Background: Severe hyponatremia is rare when carbamezapine is used as a monotherapy. It acts by inappropriate anti-diuretic secretion. Here we present a case of female with severe asymptomatic hyponatremia. Case report: A 61 year female which was a known case of trigeminal neuralgia and hypertension presented to opd for her routine checkup. She was taking tab carbamezapine 300mg TDS, temisartan 40 mg and amlodipine 5 mg once a day. Her blood pressure was 126/82 mm of Hg, pulse rate was 72 bpm. Her systemic investigation was normal. Her baseline blood investigation was sent as a part of routine checkup and her sodium was reported to be 109 mEq/l. Her sodium was repeated again and was found to be 111 mEq/L. she was admitted in view of hyponatremia in the ward. Her serum osmolarity was 228 mosm/kg , urine sodium was 92 mEq/l, urine osmolarity was 306mOsm/kgH20, uric acid was 2.1 mg/dl. Tsh was normal. Our patient was diagnosed with SIADH . Her carbamezapine was stopped, salt intake was increased and fluid were restricted. 5 day after her sodium improved to 126 m Eq/l. she was discharged and on followup her sodium was 132m Eq/l after 1 week. Conclusion : hyponatremia is a life threatening condition and is multifactorial. acute hyponatremia is more symptomatic than chronic. Hence we should be very careful in managing these patients

    ABSTRACT:

Objectives: Agriculture is main source of livelihood for a majority of the population in India. It holds high importance in the people’s life. While Contribution to country’s GDP by other sectors have increased in a faster rate, contribution from agriculture &its associated sector is in the reducing trend and presently hold to less than 20 percent. However, gross agricultural production has grown with the increase in demand as a fall out of increased population. It helped India to become self-sufficient and emerged as a net exporter of agriculture and allied products. The study is towards finding the gap in adaptation of technology in agriculture and its degree of implementation in Indian context. Methods: Review of available research, book, and articles towards finding the Gap. Results: There are many technologies which have already been developed globally towards smart farming. However, at the field level adaptation and implementation is found limited. Conclusion: While government has come up with many initiatives and the sector has achieved some milestones as well, and adaptation of technologies have also helped to overcome of the challenges to some extent, there is gap in adaptation &implementation of technologies at field level on Indian agriculture context.
