Natural fibers composites are low-cost fibers with high specific properties, low density and eco-friendly. The development of advanced bio composite materials made is increasing in the world. It will be an alternative way to develop the bio-composites which can be particularly used for daily needs of common people whether it is house hold furniture, house and light weight car components and other equipment. This effort to develop bio-composite materials with improved performance for global applications is an ongoing process. Therefore, it is important to study the water absorption behavior in order to estimate, not only the consequences that the water absorbed may have, but also the durability of natural fibers composites aged under water, to plan a possible surface treatment in order to improve its mechanical properties.

All business owners face certain challenges, but women, because of their gender, often have additional challenges and obstacles that their male peers are less likely to encounter working women who have children experience even more demand on time, energy and resources. But this does not mean women as well as success full than men, in fact, statistic show that women are starting business at more than twice the rate female majority owned business. The growing success rate of women entrepreneurship shows that they are resourceful and able to succeed, despite the odds. Women entrepreneurs may be defined as the women or a group of women who initiate organize and operate a business enterprise. The govt. of India has defined women entrepreneurs as “an enterprise owned and controlled by women having giving at least 51 percent of the employment generated in the enterprise to women.” Women entrepreneurs engaged in business due to push and pull factors which encourage women to have an independent occupation and stands on their legs. The women entrepreneurs are recognized as a power full instrument for the economic development of any country as well as in bringing the changes in the society as catalyst so the evaluation of the growth of the entrepreneurship becomes necessary in general.

Turbine is an important component of aero-engine. Once a fault occurs, especially when the load exceeds the yield strength, the turbocharger will be damaged in a very short time. Therefore, the structural reliability analysis of turbocharger becomes more and more important. A simplified turbine model is established by Catia. The static strength of the model is analyzed based on ANSYS Workbench finite element analysis software. The distribution of stress and deformation is obtained, and the relationship between rotational speed and maximum stress is studied. In addition, the modal analysis of the model can obtain the natural frequencies and modes, which can provide the basis for the optimization design and dynamic analysis.

The study examined the potability and quality analysis of borehole water in selected communities in Port Harcourt Metropolis. Experimental and cross-sectional research method was adopted. Primary and secondary data sources were used. Random sample technique was used to select (9) nine communities for water sampling. Nine boreholes were purposively sampled in the nine communities for laboratory analysis on the physical, chemical, microbial parameters and heavy metals were tested. Borehole water samples were analyzed for Physico-chemical parameters: pH, temperature, chloride, acidity, Alkalinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS) and total hydrocarbon content. Microbial parameters were E coli and Salmonella while iron and chromium were tested as heavy metals. Descriptive and inferential statistics as well as weighted Likert scale was used. Results showed mean values of physical parameters; pH (4.8), temperature (27.40C), chloride (10.0. mg/l), acidity (3.6 mg/l), Alkalinity (2.8 mg/l), THC (233.3mg/l), (TDS)(3.0 ppm), (TSS) (2.4 mg/l) Turbidity (0.4 mg/l) . Microbial analysis showed that (8) borehole waters were within permissible limit of NESREA and WHO, except for borehole (BH08) which had insignificant presence of Escherichia coli. Heavy metal analysis showed chromium (Cr) was not detected while iron (Fe) was found in about (7) boreholes but does not have any health implication. On the socio economic angle, about (75%) does not have knowledge about national or international standard water quality criteria. Also the likert scale measurement showed that the most frequent diseases /ailments residents were exposed to was linked to the of consumption of untreated borehole water in the study area, table 12 affirms the assertion. The study recommend amongst others that residents using borehole water should be educated on the possible risks and danger especially when such borehole water was not subjected to national and international water quality treatment standard.

A study was conducted among 315 randomly selected pigeon farmers across different locations in Gamawa L.G.A to investigate their traditional breeding methods, breeding objectives and traits preferences for selecting breeding stocks. The result obtained showed that majority (75.485%) of the farmers kept the local pigeon breeds over the cross breds (20.70%) and exotic breeds (3.82%). Most of the farmers (42.99%) sourced their breeding stocks from within their flocks over other sources. Most (35.67%) of the farmers kept pigeon for hobby and for meat (32.48%) followed by other reasons. Most of the farmers accorded a higher priority for qualitative trait (Body colour) in selecting breeding males (38.85%) and females (31.55%) over other traits. However, some degrees of emphasis (16.88% and16.24%) were given for productive traits (hatchability and quality of squabs respectively) in selecting breeding females. Majority (80.92%) of the farmers used cross breeding technique to genetically upgrade their birds, despite the fact that most of them (72.205%) had no knowledge of inbreeding. There was a very significant (p<0.001) difference between the study locations across all the variables. The farmer’s indigenous breeding strategies should be harnessed in designing a breeding programme in the study area for better result and sustainability.

Introduction: High opening injection pressure (> 15 psi) can detect needle - nerve contact. However, the reliability of injection pressure monitoring to detect needle – nerve or impingement may be affected by syringe size. We hypothesized that monitoring of opening injection pressure (the pressure at which injectate is detected by US) is affected by the size of the syringe used for injection. Methods: After Ethics Commitee approval, 22 gauge 50 mm needles were inserted under US to contact the C5, C6 and C7 nerve roots of fresh human cadavers. Hand-held injections were made using 3 different syringe sizes (5, 10, 20 mL) at a rate commensurate with typical clinical practice. Injections were made bilaterally at each of the above nerve roots. Opening injection pressure data were aquired with an in-line digital pressure recorder using a 60 mL syringe (10ml/min), and injection halted when spread was detected. Results: A total of 48 injection measurements were made. The peak (opening) pressures at which injection commenced in two cadavers were 30.50 psi and 34.07 psi with 5 mL syringe, 29.20 psi and 34.95 psi for 10 mL syringe, 26.03 psi and 29.42 psi for 20 mL syringe, all han-held injection. In automated pump injection 60 mL syringe was used, and maximum achieved pressures were 23.42 psi and 34.03 psi. Opening injection pressures were similar regarless of syringe size (p>0.05). Conclusion: The size of the syringe commonly used in clinical practice of peripheral nerve blockade did not significantly affect the monitoring of the open injection pressure. All injection with the needle – nerve contact resulted in injetion pressure > 20 psi, regardless of syringe size or method of injection. Our findings ate thus consistent with the fluid mechaminc described by Pascal's Law, where pressure exerted anywhere in a confined incompressible fluid system is transmited equally throughout until the opening pressure is reached and injection begins.

The creep phenomenon will inevitably occur in the course of railway vehicles traveling. By solving the creep mathematical model, the relationship among wheel-railway adhesion coefficient, vehicle speed and creep rate is obtained. On this basis, the mathematical model of ABS and AMESim simulation model are established, and the simulation and analysis are completed under the conditions of track drying and wetting. The temperature field of disc brake is analyzed based on ABAQUS. The boundary condition of finite element model is defined and the load is consistent with the simulation result of AMESim. The research shows that the anti-lock braking system (ABS) has a good application effect, which can keep the vehicle braking in the optimal creep state, reduce the braking distance and time, and improve the anti-thermal attenuation ability of the brake disc. The application of anti-lock braking function in hydraulic braking system is of great significance to the improvement of railway vehicle transportation capacity.

XML is everywhere: Data Integration, File configuration and Interface definition are areas where XML is intensively present. We may define rules, constraints and configuration settings, or specify graphical interfaces, export data and define rules. This markup language allows the extensibility of any data specification, graphical interface design, or settings storage in an easy and flexible way, which allowed a wide usage of XML in the industry community. Programmers write programs using a learned syntax that depends of a specific language. Languages may share the same paradigm but are different in their syntax and reserved words. Productivity depends of the chosen language, and the developer knowledge of it. Programmers switching from a language to another may build on the paradigm knowledge, however they must learn a new syntax since no flexible universal programming syntax is offered. The purpose of this paper is to offer to the development community a uniform programming platform based on XML, and running on top of different baseline languages and frameworks. By joining a simple language specification to a powerful framework, we reduce the set of required reserved words and syntax mechanisms to learn in a language. We propose a programming platform that increases the productivity while reducing the learning time and error rate. This results in an increase in maintenance quality and rapid development, and code readability.

School meals programme in The Gambia is one of the successful safety net programmes that have been beneficial to vulnerable families in rural dwellings and some families dwelling in urban slums. The programme has evolved over the years necessitating a study to assess its efficacy thereby validating the need for its continuation in the coming decades and beyond. The study was conducted nationwide, thus providing useful insight on the current school meals programme. The monetary benefits of the programme were estimated using reasonable assumptions whilst its actual costs were also calculated. The model used for the study was the Investment Case Economic Model of the Boston Consulting Group. The benefits were categorized into: income transfer, healthier and longer life, educational outcome (enrolment, attendance & dropout) and externalities. Whilst costs were categorized into: food cost, staff cost, transport & logistics, capital cost, running cost and other costs. The study generated six options with various assumptions, the results from the various assumptions illustrated that the Benefit-Cost ratio ranges from 6.1524 to 6.1543 given the options. For the base year the Benefit-Cost ratio was 6.19:1. The net present values ranges between GMD 228,967,046.83 (USD 5,724,176.17) and GMD 648,232,828.48 (USD 16,205,820.71) over the study period. Empirically the results of the study vividly demonstrates that school meals programme is a viable and worthwhile investment. Hence the need for its sustainability and continuance so that learners from poor and vulnerable families will continue to benefit from this social safety net programme. There is however a need for public accountability and proper record keeping in order to ensure that further and future studies on the programme is possible and credible.

This study examined the adequacy and effectiveness of disaster and emergency communication tools in crisis situation in Calabar South local government. Study method was the cross sectional survey involving the use of questionnaires. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed to the sampled communities and key informants to elicit responses. The data collections were grouped according to research questions. The data were organized and presented in tables. Frequency counts of agree and disagree responded were obtained and mean scores were used for data analysis. Risk characterization using Risk Assessment Matrix was used to ascertain the level of probable risk residents may face in the event of emergencies or disaster incidents. Table 3 in the study shows the total sum for agree was (100), with a mean score of (20), while the total sum for Disagree was (300) and the mean score was (60).This result shows that the respondents admit strongly on the non-availability of the modern emergency communication tools, and also strongly disagrees on adequacy and the effectiveness of the available ones in the management of disasters in Calabar South local government Cross River State. Table 4 of the research also shows that residents are not aware of some of the modern emergency communication tools and how they are utilized during disaster situations in the local government. The study recommends that Emergency Management Agencies should improve on their communication level with the public to bridge the poor communication gap between the agencies and the people. This will improve on the level of helplessness and hopelessness of the residents to disseminate information during disasters. This assertion corroborates with the study by United States Centre for Disease Control which states that the most valuable way of information transformations and dissemination are based on a new key player in emergency management – ‘the public’.
